We don’t know much about Nintendo’s next gaming platform, codenamed NX. We do know that Nintendo skipped this year’s E3 show and said it would unveil the new system later this year. They’ve also stated it will launch worldwide in March of 2017. Beyond that, it’s been all speculation and rumors. And with that, more rumors have surfaced from Emily Rogers, someone who has leaked details before with varying results. Today she went to Twitter and posted:
I won’t post any new rumors on NX. But I stand 100% by my opinion that AMD is not behind NX’s GPU. It’s not an X86 system. You will see some more NX reports coming out form other sites soon. Major sites. Not Nintendo fan sites. Also, I don’t know what the price of this thing will be. It sounds expensive, but I hope it’s not. When I say NX sounds expensive, I mean the gimmick sounds expensive. I stand by my report that this thing is closer to XB1 specs. And by gimmick, I’m talking more about NX’s form factor. So anyways, keep an eye out for reports coming this week, and the following weeks.
So, according to Emily, we should be hearing news this week about the NX. What kind of news is anybody’s guess. It could be simply Nintendo announcing a date for a conference to unveil the new platform or it could be a few nuggets released by Nintendo or other sources. One thing to keep in mind is that Nintendo’s 1st Quarter Earnings Release will take place this week on Wednesday, July 27 after the market closes at 3:15 PM Japan time. Could Nintendo include some specifics about the NX in these reports? If so, that’s not too far away.
We will keep you updated if news breaks. We will know soon enough if this rumor has any merit or not.
