Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Charts At Number 1 In UK

With reports that Amazon has sold out of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch, now comes news that the game has topped the sales charts in the UK, something a Nintendo game hasn’t been able to accomplish since 2011! The last time a Nintendo game earned the top spot was Pokémon White on the Nintendo DS. It’s also the first Mario game to earn the top slot since Mario Kart Wii way back in 2008.

Thanks to a replenishment of Nintendo Switch systems alongside the injection of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe into the marketplace, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also saw a big uptick in sales performance for the week, going from tenth place last week all the way up to fifth (a 68% increase in units sold).

This bodes well for Nintendo and the Switch and shows there is plenty of pent-up demand for more games on Nintendo’s new device. The next major first party game will be ARMS, which doesn’t release until June 16 in North America.
